Nicaragua Revisited Mi Linda Managua is the only Nicaraguan restaurant in Toronto. It is located in the Bloor Ossington area. For those who didn’t know Managua is the capital of Nicaragua, which is situated in Central America between Honduras and Costa Rica.
When the TFLC’ers first tried to visit the Mi Linda Managua, they were unable to because the restaurant was closed due to a family emergency. I was joined by some of the founding members of TFLC, Zahra, Rishma, and Alykhan. And was also joined by Aliyah, one our TFLC regulars, and our newest member Omar who seemed to have a good time and may come back next month. So the six of us took in an eventful night at Mi Linda Managua.
We started the night out with a lovely beverage called Chilla. It is a passion fruit juice mix, which had a similar taste to pink lemonade. After looking at the menu however I was a bit disappointed as there were only six dishes to choose from and four of them were pork related.
None of us eat pork, so we ordered three chicken dishes and one beef dish. We decided to split the dishes as the portions were pretty large. When the food arrived the presentation was pretty nice.
Both the chicken and beef dishes came with rice and salad. On top of the rice there were fried bananas. The rice was brown in colour and had beans in it. The chicken was grilled and came with spicy sauces. I along with Omar found the beef to be a little tough. Rish, Aly and Zahra were in agreement that the chicken was delectable, and Aliyah loved the fried bananas that accompanied every entrée. As for dessert well there was no dessert. Unfortunately they had just run out of their dessert special.
Overall the food was great and the service was outstanding. I just wish that there were more choices of items we could have ordered.
I would recommend this place if you love chicken, and want to try something new. Overall, I would rate the restaurant a TFlc rating out of TFLC.

I’m sorry that you were “dissapointed” about the shortage of meats offere at Mi Linda Managua but how can ou say that!!!…
I wouldn’t go to a East Indian restaurant and expect them to offer pork when I know that it’s not a part of their diet…the same goes with a Japanese or Chinese restaurant, expecting them to serve you a hamburger…you visit those places because you want to experience something new…and furthermore, as a Nicaraguan myself I can tell you that PORK is a favorite in our diet and we do use it a lot in our menu and everyday foods…
so before you start judging their menu…RESEARCH!!!

Well frankly I find the food to be delectable. It’s my favourite hispanic restaurant to go to for either regular eating or special family events or gatherings. I find the staff is very friendly and accomodating.

I agree with the responses in that the food at Mi Linda Managua is truly a hidden gem. Their “carne asada” is one of the best dishes around. I would recommend you try this restaurant. You will not be dissapointed.

It took us a while to find a Nicaraguan restaurant in Toronto. In our opinion, they make great food at very affordable prices. We look forward to our next visit. We only wish that they had another restaurant closer to our home.

You will get great food at a reasonable price here. Never a disappointment. Ambience will cost you $20 more a plate on College street.
